The most important rule after your Collagen Catalyst microneedling appointment is simple: keep your skin clean, hydrated, and out of the sun. This is a 75-minute microneedling treatment, so your skin has done real work and it needs a calm, protected first few days to lock in the results.
Because our Florida sun is strong year-round in Vero Beach, I’m serious about shade, hats, and smart SPF timing. You’ll see a clear day-by-day plan below, plus what’s normal (mild redness is common for 2 to 7 days) and what’s a reason to reach out.
First 24 to 48 hours after microneedling: keep it clean and hands-off
Quick rule: No makeup, no sweating, no heat, no picking. Cleanse gently and keep your routine boring.
Right after a microneedling treatment, your skin is more open than usual. That’s why I keep the first 24 to 48 hours very simple. Think gentle cleanse, hydration, and protection. This is also when people get themselves into trouble by touching, exfoliating, or trying to “speed it up.” Don’t.
Do this
- Wash your hands before you touch your face, even to apply moisturizer.
- Cleanse gently using a mild, fragrance-free cleanser and lukewarm water.
- Hydrate with a simple, non-irritating moisturizer. If you already use hyaluronic acid and it’s been gentle for you, I usually like that category here.
- Sleep on a clean pillowcase and keep anything that touches your face clean (phone screen, sunglasses, hats).
Avoid this
- Makeup for at least 48 hours. Your skin needs time before you put pigment and brushes back on it.
- Sweating and heat for 48 to 72 hours. That includes hard workouts, saunas, hot yoga, and hot baths.
- Swimming for several days. Pools and ocean water are not your friend while your skin is settling.
- Direct sun. If you golf, boat, or spend time at the beach, plan shade first and keep your face covered while you’re in the no-SPF window.
Days 3 to 7: the “looks fine” phase that can ruin microneedling results
This is the week where people get tempted. Redness is usually settling, texture can feel a little dry or tight, and you might think you can jump right back into your normal routine. I’d rather you protect what you paid for.
If you did RF microneedling as part of your Collagen Catalyst service, you may feel a bit more “worked on” compared to traditional microneedling. Either way, the rules are similar. Calm skin heals better.
Vero Beach note: Because our Florida sun is strong year-round, strict sun protection after microneedling matters more here than in cooler climates. Shade and a hat come first.
What to keep doing all week
- Keep cleansing gentle and quick. No scrubs, no cleansing brushes, no exfoliating gloves.
- Moisturize more than you think you need. Dry, tight skin often just needs hydration and time.
- If you’re peeling, let it shed on its own. Picking can leave marks.
What to avoid until I clear you
- Active ingredients like retinoids, AHAs/BHAs, vitamin C, benzoyl peroxide, and strong acne spot treatments for 3 to 7 days.
- Waxing, aggressive dermaplaning, and microdermabrasion until your skin is fully calm. If you’re searching “dermaplaning near me” or “microdermabrasion, ” wait a beat and let me guide the timing.
- Long sun exposure, especially midday. Plan your boating, beach, or golf time with coverage and shade.
A simple aftercare routine that works after a microneedling treatment
I’m not trying to sell you a 10-step routine. After Collagen Catalyst microneedling, simple wins. You’re protecting your barrier first, then you’ll go back to targeted products when your skin is ready.
Cleanser: Mild, fragrance-free, no exfoliating acids.
If it foams aggressively or stings, set it aside for later.
Hydration: Hyaluronic acid or a sterile hydrating serum category, then a fragrance-free moisturizer.
Keep it non-irritating. This isn’t the week for “tingle equals working.”
Sunscreen: Broad-spectrum SPF 30+ once your skin has re-epithelialized.
If you’re unsure when to restart SPF, ask me. Until then, shade and a hat do the heavy lifting.
If you’re also managing breakouts and you’re tempted to jump back into strong acne products fast, pause. I work with a lot of acne-prone skin, including clients who search “acne facials near me” because nothing at home seems to behave. Post-microneedling is a different window, and going too hard too soon can set you back.
When to reach out to me at M2 Esthetics (and when it’s normal)
Mild redness, a warm feeling, and some dryness are common after microneedling, and redness can last anywhere from 2 to 7 days. If you have sensitive skin, you might run a little pink longer.
But I want you to reach out if something feels off. I’d rather answer a “quick question” than have you guessing at home. Our studio on the US-1 commercial corridor in South Vero Beach makes it easy to stop by for product pickup or a fast check-in if you’re nearby.
Call me right away if you have severe pain, increasing swelling after day 2, pus or drainage, fever, or any signs of infection.
“Seen promptly, service was great, venue is always top notch clean! Katie is great!”

This aftercare applies to clients coming in from Vero Beach, Indian River Shores, Gifford, Wabasso, Sebastian, and Fellsmere. And if you’re in the “Facials near me” search spiral and trying to decide what’s worth it, microneedling can be a great option when you want texture and pore refinement plus collagen support. If you’re not sure which route is best, I can talk you through it.
If you want to read more before your next visit, I’ve also shared Collagen Catalyst microneedling vs RF microneedling and how I approach sun-damaged, crepey skin with microneedling. If you’re looking at your calendar and thinking about timing around sun exposure, my curated skin treatments for summer in Vero Beach guide is a good read too.

If you follow the clean, hydrated, shaded rule for the first week, you’re doing the work that protects your results. That matters for traditional microneedling and it matters for RF microneedling.
If anything about your healing doesn’t feel right, reach out to me at M2 Esthetics. I’ll tell you what’s normal, what to pause, and when to come in. You’re not on your own after you leave the studio.
